Sex & Violence part 2
It started out as an answer to a question, than it started a debate in which it was me Vs the class. The topic of today’s class was the Nature in Killing and we looked into the Stamford experiment along with Abu Grab (Spelling?) and the Milgram experiment for inspiration and examples. After a documentary the floor was open with the simple question, “Why did these people do what they did?”
The class attempted to answer the question by saying they’re doing what they were told to do, or that they went along with the group. The typical answers, the teacher then said that we needed to generalize the answers a bit more. In which, I responded, Killing is godlike.
I explained my answer after the teacher settled the class down. I started off by asking if anyone heard of “Sex and Violence?” Some people have, in which I stated it these are the two things that makes a person feel good. To have dominance over life is the closest we can achieve to god-like status, and to be godlike means to be all powerful, and what is the most powerful thing we can do? By controlling life, and that is what these people had. In other words, killing made them feel godlike. In which several people challenged me, which I explained more thoroughly…
I have a mid-term Thursday and I’m dead tired… I should go to bed.
